What to Expect from iPhone5

Teknopedia – The enthusiasm of knowing about iPhone 5 is surrounding the individuals and disturbing the developers.  All techy geeks are desperate to dig out more and more details about the upcoming iPhone 5 and the laymen are waiting to see another revolutionary gadget in their hands to show off their device and make the most of it at work and at leisure.

Before we move on, we find it important to remind you that there are a number of claims and rumours all around about the iPhone 5 but no information is provided on the official website of Apple. It is also reported that Apple won its claim for a domain name ‘iPhone5.com’ but it is not functional yet.  iPhone 5 is expected to be more or less of the same cost as iPhone 4s.  It is also expected that iPhone 5 will be similar to iPad 3.

However, I came through a very amusing fact while researching on iPhone 5; iPhone 5 won’t be called iPhone5 as iPhone 4s was the fifth one. I was impressed by the smartness in this logic, what do you think? What do you expect from iPhone 5 ?  What can be the possible surprises to unleash by iPhone 5 ?  At the time of release of iPhone 4s it was expected to support 4G but Apple was contented with its 3G support. What do they have in iPhone 5 for us?   Had Steve planned to unleash the 4G support in iPhone5?  iPhone 4s was called as the ‘Gamers iPhone’ but what about iPhone 5;  ‘Developers iPhone’ ?  iPhone 4s offered seven times faster graphics , what about iPhone 5;  fourteen times or even more faster?  iPhone 4s was supported by dual core A5, so shall we expect a quad core A6 in iPhone 5?

Design Change

A significant design change is expected in iPhone 5 because there was no difference in the appearance of iPhone 4 and its predecessor iPhone 4s.  It is also assumed that iPhone 4s was not a revolutionary gadget because Steve kept the surprise for iPhone 5. We are unable to reach their approach and make a guess about the possible design change but may be they come up with larger display screens as a response to 4.5 inch screens offered by HTC. Retina displays will definitely be employed or shall we prepare ourselves for any other stunning technology ?

iOS5 or iOS6 Support

Guesses are also being made about the operating system to support the latest iPhone. Will it be the same iOS5 or we will be surprised with iOS6 features? A5 chip was power efficient because of the dual cores which made it quick and responsive; should we expect a ‘Quad core A6’ in iPhone5?  Although we do not need any major update in operating as iOS 5 is already really advanced and provides admirable hardware software integration.

Improved Digital Assistant

Siri- the personal digital assistant, in iPhone 4s, was released as its Beta Version. Different questions aroused in minds about the performance of Siri. How will Siri behave in the crowded place?  How well did it perform in its beta testing? What improvements are needed and are these improvements included in iPhone5?  Will it support more language? How it will communicate with the user, any advancement is provided?

iSight Camera

An 8 Mega Pixel camera was introduced in iPhone 4s which employed HR filter layers.  It was aimed to produce sharper and brighter images of excellent quality every time. Will it update the photography techniques used? iPhone 4s was equipped with the backside illumination sensor with increased sensitivity and a shorter exposure time engineered to attain the suitable brightness. Battery power was saved with the automatic switching of LED light. But a conflict was also raised when it came to description of HR filters.  A better pixel density was introduced but do they work on size of camera sensors in iPhone 5 ?  We do not expect any increase in pixel density but all the claims made in iPhone 4s are expected to be met in iPhone 5.

Improved Connectivity

As we have discussed earlier as well, iPhone 4s came up with the redesigned antenna. The redesigned antenna was optimized for better reception and was more immune to air interference which disturbed the transmission signals.  So, the GSM, cellular antenna, in the iPhone 4s was split into two pieces. These were made of the stainless steel band and wrap around the device, so that phone can make a choice which piece is receiving or sending the signal appropriately. A new engineering idea was introduced in iPhone 4s and hopefully they would improve the performance in iPhone 5.  We can just hope that this improved technology results in better connectivity whether it comes to make a call, connect over Wi-fi or share anything via bluetooth.

iPhone5 Apps

Up till now our discussion was more focused towards the hardware and aesthetic changes in the gadget; what about the applications that will be offered by iPhone 5? Although Apple store is already enriched with applications but there should be something new and unique in iPhone 5.  We can not make a guess about the user interface to be offered by the upcoming iPhone 5.  May be there is an increased ease to organize the applications and an option to hide the unused applications.  We should not overlook the way applications are developed for iPhone, may be this app development is more handy.

And the sad news is….

To me it is the most saddening part of the research when I came to know the mastermind Steve Jobs was working on this project.  What will Apple do without Jobs?  Will it be able to produce some revolutionary gadgets like Jobs or is this the last iPhone we can confidently rely on?  Will they be able to sell the dreams like him or they will lose the battle after him?  Oh Steve, we would badly miss you at the launch of iPhone 5.
